Solidarity campaign for our unhoused neighbours: a look back at our November 26th meeting

02/12/2025 | A first citizens’ assembly in solidarity with unhoused people was held in the neighbourhood on November 26, at the initiative of the Clinic and the Action-Gardien round table. During the meeting, soup was served and donations of clothing and hygiene products were available in front of the Adozone Youth Centre on Centre Street.

More than 35 citizens and workers from the Point came to show their solidarity. The goal of the gathering was to counter the intolerant and exclusionary rhetoric sometimes heard in public spaces about people experiencing houselessness. In reality, most people are supportive and eager to help. Many had questions: How can I help? How do I approach someone who seems to be in need? Where are the resources in the neighbourhood?

The meeting marked the end of the Neighbours Without Barriers campaign, which collected a large amount of winter clothing and hygiene supplies to be distributed to those in need. A brochure of local resources (in French only) was also unveiled and will be distributed in the coming weeks.
